About this deal

I will get to book three only to see if we revisit book one characters or if we get any closer to tying it all together. After long or stressful workdays, he found solace in unfolding his narratives, a therapeutic endeavor that helped him unwind and relax. From the first moment you are gripped and invested by all the characters and relationships created by Beswick.

I loved the all the characters in this story and the attention to detail had me feeling like I was actually watching the events unfold. The book jumps around like the characters do which is fortunate as it helps us get to the end more quickly. Overall, this is a fairly short book but spans so much time and distance that the proper detail is not given.

Night after night, he would sit beside their beds, weaving magical tales that would light up the face of his youngest daughter. And the author tried to make us care for them, but we barely learned their names before they were out and we were left with a confusing death, some promise for vengeance and absolutely no background info on anyone. Even though I enjoyed this book, I wish that there was more development of the slow burn, but that is just me! The prose seems to have become less dreadful and character conversations seem more like actual people talking rather than a bunch of action heroes shouting witty one liners. Normally you hear people complain about an author padding the story with unnecessary details, but this one feels like entire sections could have been fleshed out for the better.

That he then rides without pause to the capital, and then within an hour (I'm estimating) rides out of the capital with two additional people on it, to escape pursuit. Most of this reads like a first draft, what with the spelling mistakes and character development and pace. hour book 2 hours of which are inner monolog about being a strong woman, descriptions of people and places the characters never talk to or interact with.

While the plot had potential, there wasn't enough substance to keep me guessing throughout my listen. The pacing was a bit different from what I usually read but I felt like it got straight to the point without a ton of unnecessary details.

Don’t get me wrong, not everything is terrible about this book, that might be one of the most frustrating things about reading these, there is so much potential. While this makes for faster paced storytelling, I found the pacing of the book to become rather slow once the two character were united. But after witnessing her siblings' cruel deaths, she unleashes her powers for the first time and makes her escape. From beginning to end I was hooked by the characters and seeing them grow and seeing the seeds continue to be planted of a bigger story. It was a smart choice on the author's part to focus on a totally different character within the world. I was a little sceptical at first as I knew it was set in the same realm but a completely different story. I could barely follow the characters on their adventure because of all the deaths, I mean people were dropping like flies.
