About this deal

His books are sold in more than twenty-five countries and have been translated into more than two dozen languages. MY SISTER’S GRAVE" by Robert Dugoni is a great legal thriller mixed with a classic police procedural. The characters are really well written, I loved Tracy's loyalty and love for her dead sister, admired her for not giving up on seeking answers. I also had the position of being very familiar with the characters so had immediate investment in them. I suspect the author included the chapter because he felt reasonably secure in his knowledge of the subject and hoped his readers would too.

I thought it was just right, brooding at times, thoughtful, building momentum and tension as I accelerated to its finish. A murder mystery with, at its heart, a kidnapping and murder thought solved 20 years earlier, but which had forever changed the small town where it had taken place.Dugoni is a very descriptive in this chilly cold case mystery both in character development and setting.

Twenty years earlier, her younger sister, Sarah, who was then eighteen, disappeared after the two had participated in a shooting competition. I found myself skimming through certain sections to get to something that helped progress the story forward. Tracy goes to dinner with her boyfriend, sending Sarah to drive home alone in the truck, for which she still feels guilty. The characters could have been developed more as they were all a bit lifeless, I found Tracy’s character very one dimensional.Dugoni is the recipient of the Nancy Pearl Award for Fiction and multiple awards for best novel set in the Pacific Northwest. With a new one out later this year I decided it was time to start from the beginning and fill in the gaps. I think there are many good reviews here, so I only wanted to add this heads up for those who may be seeking good mysteries that are low on violence.

retells the events of that evening in flashback, recounting how, upon leaving a shooting championship, Tracy asked Sarah to drive her truck back to Cedar Grove during a storm so Tracy and her boyfriend could make it to their romantic dinner reservation. Her Final Breath' is a brilliant follow-up novel to 'Her Sister's Grave', but it is not essential to have read the first book in the series as there are sufficient references to it in this novel to ensure one understands Tracy's back-story and why she reacts to certain situations in the way she does. As Tracy's engagement fell apart and her parents lost themselves to grief, Tracy found herself doubting the legality of the trial that eventually put local oddball Edmund House in prison for Sarah's apparent murder.Overall, this was a fantastic book with well-developed characters, a great setting, realistic dialogue, and a page-turning story line. The first book in the series that has garnered millions of readers across the globe, from New York Times bestselling author Robert Dugoni. She doesn't believe that Edmund House-a convicted rapist and the man condemned for Sarah's murder-is the guilty party.

I ultimately rounded up instead of down for this one because I've been reading a lot of thrillers recently and while they're all emotional to some degree I've not been brought to tears by any of them. It also explores the ramifications that the discovery has on those residents who, while still alive today, were involved in the original investigation. Tracy is a detective, she decided this when her sister Sarah disappeared 20 years ago and there was never any closure for Tracy. The title refers to the cyanide in a tank that left Scott Dominguez, a worker at an Idaho plant, brain-damaged after an accident in 1996. The two sisters had been best of friends and Tracy has never forgiven herself for allowing Sarah to drive home alone.

It was enjoyable and well paced and I think I'll certainly be picking up the second novel in this series down the line!
