About this deal

Nevertheless, I enjoyed His & Hers. It’s heart-racing. It’s addictive. It’s (mostly) smart. And it undoubtedly falls on the better end of the thriller spectrum. Feeney improves on her debut with a taut suspense plot, many gleeful twists and turns, and suspects galore.

Alice Feeney’s His & Hers is quite the thriller whodunit. It had me zigging. And zagging. Constantly. Never have red herrings caused me to point my finger at so many suspects, assured of their guilt, only to turn right around and abandon my theories. This gripping Adult Thriller follows three perspectives: his, hers and a mystery individual, that could be him, it could be her, or it could be someone else entirely. I don’t miss those days at all: begging to get on-air, constantly fretting when I didn’t. There simply isn’t time to tell every story. I stop by the flattened cardboard box that has been bothering me the most recently. I can see a strand of blond hair poking out the top, so I know she’s still there. I don’t know who she is, only that I might have been her had life unfolded differently. I left home when I was sixteen because it felt like I had to. I don’t do what I’m about to do now out of kindness; I do it because of a misplaced moral compass. Just like the soup kitchen I volunteered at last Christmas. We rarely deserve the lives we lead. We pay for them however we can, be it with money, guilt, or regret.

Special thanks to NetGalley and Flatiron Books for sharing one of the best ARCS I’ve ever read this year an exchange my honest review! What we don’t know.. Well, Baaah! Alice Feeney sure fooled me. That’s all I have to say about that. Maybe I’m a liar too. I chose this career because I wanted to tell the truth. I wanted to tell the stories that mattered most, the ones that I thought people needed to hear. Stories that I hoped might change the world and make it a better place. But I was naïve. People working in the media today have more power than politicians, but what good is trying to tell the truth about the world when I can’t bear to be honest about my own story: who I am, where I came from, what I’ve done. These people aren’t just my colleagues, they’re like a dysfunctional surrogate family. I’m almost forty years old, but I don’t have anyone else. No children. No husband. Not anymore. I’ve worked here for almost twenty years but, unlike those with friends or family connections, I started right at the bottom. I took a few detours along the way, and the stepping-stones to success were sometimes a little slippery, but I got where I wanted to be, eventually.

Once again Kendall is on her outlier island. I have a really hard time figuring out Alice Feeney's books. On the one hand, her writing is addicting and grabs you in from the get go... but OH NO... that ending?! OH god... that was pretty horrible folks. Yikes.... double yikes.

Need Help?

In short, No One and I mean, no one can be trusted. Gotta Love Alice Feeney, she sure knows how to keep us on our toes! I have never been played by an unreliable narrator quite like the way His & Hers did me. I must say I’m impressed—even though I also feel like I need to suspend my disbelief. Everything makes perfect sense in the end, but . . . While I guessed a few of the twists along the way, in no way did it take away my enjoyment of this delightful read! Highly recommend for all thriller lovers. And if you enjoy audio....this would be the one to listen to!

This whole experience reminds me of buying a sandwich from a pricey shop, it looked good, it seemed like your sort of thing, you wanted to like it, but there was just no substance to it, ITleft a bad taste in your mouth and made you feel a bit grim afterwards!

First off, not about the book but about the narration - it was super easy to realise who the killer was as though the voice was distorted, through the intonation and rhythm as well as some heavy handed tips.
