About this deal

Which of course it is. Partway through #1 we meet Jetfire, revealing that Void Rivals is the start of a new shared comics universe that will also include Transformers and G.I. Joe titles. Can you break that down for us? How long has this collaboration been in the works? We also want to maintain the integrity of G.I. Joe. It's never gonna feel like just a Transformers spin-off or an offshoot, or anything like that. We love G.I. Joe, as much as we love Transformers. We're definitely going to give it its moment to shine. As this universe unfolds you'll see how it all makes sense and how we're integrating these characters together.

FIRST LOOK AT ROBERT KIRKMAN AND LORENZO DE FELICI’S VOID

We were curious why Skybound is opting to launch the rebooted G.I. Joe franchise as a line of character-focused miniseries rather than a single, ongoing series as with Transformers. Kirkman notes that it's really about the desire to shine a spotlight on a handful of characters before delving headlong into a franchise notable for its massive cast of heroes and villains.Daniel Warren Johnson’s Transformers book is very much Earth based and so you'll start to see how the G.I. Joe books will unfold from that. It's kind of Void Rivals leads to Transformers, Transformers leads to G.I. Joe. The rumors, it turns out, are true: the first issue of Void Rivals is — to use a well-worn phrase — more than meets the eye, with what was initially announced as “the launch of AN ALL-NEW SHARED UNIVERSE and a SURPRISE you won't see coming” revealing itself to be the beginning of the Energon Universe - a new era for Transformers and G.I. Joe comics. Wigler, Josh (2018-03-06). " 'Walking Dead' Creator Begins New Chapter With 'Oblivion Song' ". The Hollywood Reporter . Retrieved 2023-06-12. Inside Skuxxoid's spaceship, Darak and Solila try to escape, but they find several dangers, including a Quintesson Prosecutor who guides them to the ship. Skuxxoid decides to let Dark and Solila go, so they can return to the Ring. But when they return, Solila betrays Darak and delivers him to Zertonian authorities. [8]

Canon Foreigner: Considering the comic is an original IP that shares a universe with the long-established Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises the entire original cast is this. It's The KirkmanVerse: This might be a cheat, but there are enough parallel universe devices in Invincible to allow for all of Kirkman's series – Fire Power, The Walking Dead, Oblivion Song and more – to somehow finally all cross over. That would be a love letter to all the big comic events that we know Kirkman loves and open the opportunity for some franchise mashups you never expected. And maybe an attempt to beat Mark Millar's Big Game to the jump.Alan Wake 2's minimum specs have disqualified my gaming laptop, and now I question the financial viability of PC gaming a b c First Comics News (2023-02-24). Robert Kirkman explains THAT jaw-dropping Void Rivals twist

Crystal Dragon Jesus: Zerta, a deity worshipped by the Zertonians (but not the Agorrians) who may or may not be working In Mysterious Ways to help out Darak and Solila. Void Rivals #1 is, ultimately, a very successful teaser for what's to come that raises all manner of questions about the future of the Transformers and G.I. Joe franchises: What is going to happen to Darak and Solila? (I'm getting a Saga feeling from their interaction, I admit.) What made Jetfire crash onto the planetoid, and is it related to the same accident that sends Optimus Prime et al to Earth in Daniel Warren Johnson's upcoming Transformers series? Where is G.I. Joe in all of this? (Let’s note that the solicitation for Void Rivals #3 this August hints at some new characters being introduced…) And, outside of the story being told, what's next for each of these properties and the larger Energon Universe as a whole? The sky's the limit, it appears... and that's probably very much the reaction Skybound and Hasbro were hoping for. The horror behind global climate change concerns time. It likes to remind humanity of the fact it’s on a time limit and that our actions are chipping away at it fast. It’s not often, though, we get a story that flips the concept on its head to look at how haunted places are also at risk of disappearing if the climate worsens. Way things are going, it’s tough to say a haunted house can even survive rising temperatures, or that people will be around to be terrorized by it.Kirkman said, "With every project I do, I’m always trying to challenge myself. One thing I’ve always loved doing is starting small with a story and expanding the depth, scope and stakes as we progress. With Void Rivals we’ll be going bigger than I ever have and at a much faster pace. This project is going to be monumental. I can’t wait for people to see what Lorenzo and I have cooking." [4]
