About this deal

The eleven days that Agatha Christie went missing is one of the most debated 'unsolved' mysteries of all time. But, in “The Christie Affair,” both Nan and, eventually, Agatha herself avail themselves of the new erotic freedoms of the 1920s. It focuses on her upbringing in England and her first romance which happens on her Uncle’s farm in Ireland. The story unfolds in a series of carefully placed vignettes you may find yourself reading and rereading, partly to get the details straight, partly to fully savor the well-turned phrases and the dry humor, partly so the book won't have to end, damn it. She had narrowly missed running into Finbarr, who had received a letter from Nan not too long ago describing her affair and her plan to seduce Archie.

BookBrowse seeks out and recommends the best in contemporary fiction and nonfiction—books that not only engage and entertain but also deepen our understanding of ourselves and the world around us.Finally, various reports of sightings of Agatha in the area result in Archie showing up at the Bellefort Hotel.

This novel about the 11-day disappearance of Agatha Christie, told from the point of view of Christie's husband's mistress, is such a delight: intriguing, fast-paced, and elegantly written. Shocked and heartbroken, Agatha packs her bags and drives off in her car leaving her daughter with Honoria, her secretary and her daughter’s nanny, and a note for Archie. Instead, there is plenty of time spent on the internal dialog of the main protagonist with so many point of view interruptions, you might wonder IF the plot will advance. In 1929, Agatha ends up seeking out Nan during her disappearance, prompted by Finbarr who showed up trying to win Nan back.

Book review and synopsis for The Christie Affair by Nina de Gramont, a highly fictionalized story about the mistress of Agatha Christie's husband that is framed in the context of Christie's unexplained eleven-day disappearance. Yet by the end of the book it makes perfect sense and was quite brilliant by the author to structure the book this way. A modern alternative to SparkNotes and CliffsNotes, SuperSummary offers high-quality Study Guides that feature detailed chapter summaries and analysis of major themes, characters, quotes, and essay topics. Overall I so want to love this book as the great authors disappearance has fascinated people for nearly a century but I just like parts of it.Some vagueness is good for suspense but it was so much that I honestly couldn't keep it straight and sometimes just skipped the page until I got pulled back into the reality. After twelve years of marriage, she loved him blindly and hopefully, as if in her thirty-six years of life she’d learned nothing about the world.
